Cinco ¡Sigan leyendo juntos!

One Thousand Books Before Kindergarten

1000 Books Before Kindergarten logo

With Gail Borden Public Library

Learning to read begins long before kindergarten. It begins with you. Reading to your child is the best way to prepare them for school and their future!

Any child from birth to entering kindergarten can participate in this self-paced early literacy program.

How can I participate? There are two ways:

1. Virtually. Register on Beanstack, log your books, and earn digital badges and real celebration prizes!

2. Paper Logs. Register on Beanstack, but record your process on a paper log that you can download or pick up at the Early Learning Center desk or any branch location.

Download this information sheet.

Download and print the first tracking sheet to begin counting your books!

See this information in Spanish.

One Read together and track the number of books you have shared. Don't worry, repetition is great for learning so you can even log the same book multiple times.
Two For every 100 books read, visit the library (bring your log or show the Beanstack app) for a celebration prize.
Three After 300 you will receive a tote bag to carry all the books you've been reading! Continue tracking on Beanstack or begin a new paper log to keep going.
Four When you reach 1000 books, you will be invited to our annual graduation party in August!

If you read ONE book per night, you’ll reach 1,000 books before three years have passed! Is it easy? Yes!
