Studio 270 Aide. If you are fun and courteous and like to interact with teens...then this job opportunity is for you! We are looking for an energetic, enthusiastic and technology-minded individual to assist our teen customers in Studio 270. You will be working as part of a team to provide services to high school aged customers in our teen center and digital media lab. Responsibilities include staffing a service desk, assisting teens with printing and general computer use, as well as other duties. Help us provide a fund and interactive place for Gail Borden's teens!
Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent. Must relate well with high school teens. Previous experience with teens or older children is a plus. Must possess the drive and initiative to learn new technologies. Familiarity with Mac and Apple OS a plus.
18 hours per week; variable schedule will include late afternoon (3:00 pm), evening, and weekend hours. Must be available to work other hours on "No School" days.
Hourly Rate: $12.65 per hour

Coordinator of Early Literacy Services Librarian. If you can engage preschoolers using fingerplays to iPad apps and everything in between, then we have the job for you. We are seeking a dynamic leader who can take our early literacy efforts to a new level in the position of Coordinator of Early Literacy Services. We're a National Medal-winning library serving a diverse community that works closely with community partners such as Elgin Partnership for Early Learning, day care/preschool providers and School District U-46.
This position involves planning and implementing programs for our youngest audience inside the library, as well as events for parents and educators of this age group. Responsibilities include overseeing our unique and extremely popular preschool space, The Early Learning Center, which features a large play area with a wide variety of toys for every developmental stage, an open craft counter and newly installed bin shelving for picture book categories. You'll be part of a large, creative and collaborative team of Librarians and Associates whose passion is serving children, their families and associated agencies. You'll supervise support staff who work with our preschool audience, provide reference and readers' advisory services, and plan events using ECR2R practices.
Full-time (37.5 hours per week), exempt position. Must have flexibility to work a varied schedule, which may include weekdays, evenings, and weekends
Salary: $52,000 or higher DOQ. Excellent benefits including IMRF participation, insurance, vacation, sick time, and floating holiday time
