The Women's History Exhibits will put the spotlight on women who contributed to the growth and vitality of the community during the past 150 year. The accomplishments of local women in healthcare and Gail Borden Librarians will also be highlighted. 


Strictly Self-Defense

In honor of International Woman’s Day, participate in a free self-defense program. Lindsey Daehnke’s goal is to empower members of her community to make smart decisions while working and living, by creating awareness around the importance of having a self-defense mindset.

Herstory: Stories of Elgin Women with Linda Rock

Linda Rock will bring to life a variety of Elgin women from the past, including Laura Raymond Gifford, Mary Carpenter Lord and Alice Byrd Potter.

Marguerite, Misty, & Me

Author/horse lover Susan Friedland was obsessed with Marguerite Henry's Misty books when she was growing up. She traces Henry's life in Kane County, where the real Misty was stabled.
