You count! Calling all young artists!
The Elgin Complete Count Committee in partnership with School District U-46, Gail Borden Public Library, City of Elgin, Elgin Partnership for Early Learning, Centro de Informacion and more, is launching a digital art contest to help spread the word about the importance of the 2020 Census. The young artists who enter might receive a $50 gift certificate! All birth to 5 through school age children (K-12) are invited to submit on social media a piece of art expressing why they count in the 2020 Census. All children in the Library District and U-46/Elgin area in private schools or home-schooled are included. (see below for communities).
Just make your art, take a photo of that art and upload to your or your parent's social media account. To make your artwork eligible for the drawing, use the hashtag #ElginKidsCount and/or your local community hashtag (#ElginKidsCount, #U46Counts, #BartlettKidsCount, #WayneKidsCounts, #HanoverParkKidsCount, #SouthElginKidsCount, #StreamwoodKidsCount, #Hoffman Estates and more see below). The artwork can be, but is not limited to, a drawing, painting, video or photography. It must include the phrase “I count because…” A student may submit multiple pieces of art throughout the contest to increase their chances of winning. The contest begins on Wednesday, May 13 and ends at midnight Tuesday, May 19. The drawing for the three $50 gift cards will take place on Wednesday, May 20 and the winner will be notified on their social media account.
