Who are we?
Circle of Latin Artists (CAL), organized by the Gail Borden Public Library, mentor future artists in Auditory Arts, Visual Arts, Performing Arts, Literary Arts, and Applied Arts. Offering cultural and educational programs to the public in collaboration with the Elgin Symphony Orchestra (ESO) and other organizations.
¿Quiénes somos?
Círculo de Artistas Latinos (CAL), organizado por la Biblioteca Pública Gail Borden, se enfoca en la mentoría y preparación de futuros artistas en áreas como Artes audiovisuales, Artes visuales, Artes escénicas, Artes literarias y Artes aplicadas. Promoviendo la cultura mediante programas educativos y presentaciones artísticas para el público en colaboración con la Orquesta Sinfónica de Elgin (ESO) y otras organizaciones.

Misión/Mission
Fomentar una comunidad de artistas que comparten una pasión por la creatividad, el arte y el aprendizaje, y promover la biblioteca como centro para atender las necesidades de aprendizaje y ofrecer programas culturales y tradicionales de nuestra comunidad hispana.
To foster a community of artists who share a passion for creativity, art, and learning, and to promote the library as a center to meet the learning needs while offering cultural and traditional programs of our community.

Responsabilidad/Responsibility
Es un valor que hace referencia a tomar con la debida seriedad el trabajo encomendado, desarrollando las acciones necesarias y pertinentes para lograr los objetivos de la institución. El que tiene este valor actúa de manera diligente y entusiasta para cumplir con su deber.
This value refers to taking the entrusted work seriously, carrying out the necessary and relevant actions to achieve the institution's objectives. Those who embody this value act diligently and enthusiastically to fulfill their duties.
Compromiso institucional/Institutional Commitment
Implica sentirse identificado con la institución y los objetivos que se buscan. Es el cumplimiento de los deberes libremente asumidos.Es asumir en su totalidad la misión de la institución y trabajar para eso.
This involves identifying with the institution and its goals. It represents the fulfillment of duties that have been freely assumed. It is to fully assume the institution's mission and work towards achieving it.
Disciplina/Discipline
Hace referencia al orden que hay que mantener para lograr las metas propuestas.
Refers to the order that must be maintained to achieve the proposed goals.
Tolerancia/Tolerance
Un valor que implica respetar a los demás, incluso cuando no estamos de acuerdo con su punto de vista u origen étnico/ cultural. Es importante en cuestiones de religión, política y asuntos morales.
A value that involves respecting others, even when we disagree with their point of view or ethnic/ cultural background. It is important in matters of religion, politics, and moral issues.
Trabajo en equipo/Teamwork
Este valor permite lograr los objetivos con el esfuerzo de los involucrados, es fundamental en el arte, por la misma naturaleza de la creación e interpretación artística.
This value enables the achievement of goals through the collective effort of those involved. It is essential in art due to the very nature of artistic creation and interpretation.
Integridad/Integrity
Es un valor en el que se hace referencia a la honestidad, al respeto y a la dedicación con que se asume la tarea. Una persona íntegra es fiel a los valores institucionales y los promueve con su trabajo y estilo de vida.
A value that refers to honesty, respect, and the dedication with which a task is undertaken. A person with integrity is faithful to the institution's values and promotes them through their work and lifestyle.
Respeto/Respect
Significa preocuparse por el impacto de nuestras acciones en los demás, ser inclusivos y aceptar a los demás por lo que son, incluso cuando son diferentes. Esto no significa aceptar sus ideas como propias sino aceptarlas como algo suyo sin tener que soltar o dejar de lado las tuyas.
Means caring about the impact of our actions on others, being inclusive, and accepting others for who they are, even when they are different. This does not mean accepting their ideas as our own, but rather accepting them as their own, without having to abandon or set aside our own beliefs.
Solidaridad/Solidarity
Consiste en brindar la ayuda a otro que la necesita. Es un sentimiento de unidad que se basa en metas o intereses comunes, un apoyo mutuo.
Involves offering help to someone in need. It is a sense of unity based on shared goals or common interests, providing mutual support.
Creatividad/Creativity
Capacidad de crear mediante el uso adecuado de los recursos disponibles, el artista es un creador cuyos sentimientos expresa mediante la obra de arte.
The ability to create by making the best use of available resources. The artist is a creator who expresses their emotions through the work of art.
Pasión por el arte/Passion for Art
La entereza, la fuerza de voluntad con que se realiza la Labor.
The determination and willpower with which the work is carried out.
Objetivos/Objectives
Promoción del Arte Latinoamericano/Promotion of Latin American Art
Difundir y dar visibilidad a las obras de Arte creado por artistas latinos.
To spread and provide visibility to works of art created by Latin artists.
Fomento de la Diversidad Cultural/Fostering Cultural Diversity
Celebrar y promover la diversidad cultural y las distintas tradiciones artísticas de la comunidad Latina en Elgin.
To celebrate and promote the cultural diversity and different artistic traditions of the Latino community in Elgin.
Creación de Redes y Colaboraciones/Creation of Networks and Collaborations
Establecer conexiones y Colaboraciones entre artistas, organizaciones, curadores, galeristas y otros profesionales del arte para fortalecer la comunidad artística.
To establish connections and collaborations between artists, organizations, curators, gallery owners, and other art professionals to strengthen the artistic community.
Educación y Capacitación/Education and Training
Ofrecer talleres, seminarios y programas educativos para desarrollar las habilidades y conocimientos de los artistas.
To offer workshops, seminars, and educational programs to develop the skills and knowledge of artists.
Apoyo y Representación/Support and Representation
Proveer apoyo a los artistas en términos de recursos, oportunidades de exhibición y representación en eventos.
To provide support to artists in terms of resources, exhibition opportunities, and representation in events.
Innovación y Experimentación/Innovation and Experimentation
Fomentar la innovación y la experimentación en las prácticas artísticas, alentando a los artistas a explorar nuevas técnicas y medios.
To encourage innovation and experimentation in artistic practices, inspiring artists to explore new techniques and mediums.
