Bookmobile Driver

The Gail Borden Public Library District is looking for an enthusiastic individual to join our Mobile Library Services Department! If you’re passionate about serving the community, connecting people with library resources beyond our walls, and enjoy driving large vehicles, we’d love to meet you.

In this part-time position, you’ll drive the library’s bus-style Bookmobile to scheduled stops, assist customers, oversee daily workflows, and collaborate closely with library staff to deliver exceptional service throughout the community. Reliable transportation is required to reach the library’s Annex on Davis Road, where Bookmobile shifts start.

Additional functions of this role include:

  • Support the daily operations of the Bookmobile by welcoming customers, assisting with library card sign-ups, checking out materials, and providing excellent customer service.
  • Explain policies and procedures to the public as needed.
  • Manage daily vehicle checklists and logs.
  • Work with the Manager and other Bookmobile drivers to adjust the Bookmobile schedule and routes as needed.
  • Serve as Person in Charge (PIC) in the absence of Managers.

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Class C Driver’s License, or sufficient experience driving a large vehicle.
  • Knowledge of traffic laws and vehicle inspection procedures.
  • Valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
  • Knowledge and experience with basic computer applications.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish skills a plus.

18 hours per week – variable schedule will include weekday, evening, and weekend hours.
