Plans for the Chicago Cubs Trophy Tour featuring the 2016 World Series Trophy Visit this Sunday Morning

At the onset, we thank the Chicago Cubs for allowing us to provide this fantastic opportunity to our community.  Our goal for our community members is to let you know the arrangements that we plan to implement so that you can have the best possible experience.  We also know that not everyone will be able to see the trophy, but please know that the trophy will be on display at Wrigley Field this summer.  We thank the Elgin Police Department (EPD) for working with us on these plans.

Please check back to this web page closer to Sunday for any possible changes.

Schedule

  • 5 am - The library parking lot will open at 5 am.  We are asking that no one enter onto Library property on foot or by car until that time.  The Elgin Police will monitor the library on their rounds.  There will be portable restrooms available outside.

  • 8 am – The library will open its doors and people in line will begin to move inside.  If there is a line outside previous to 8 am, we are asking that people start forming a line at the café entrance that will move to the south, turn west at  Kimball and then move north along the bike trail behind the Library. See map below. The first 500 people will receive wrist bands to indicate that they will get to take a picture with the trophy.  It is possible that more people beyond 500 might also be able to get their picture with the trophy, but there is no guarantee.

  • 10 am – People will begin having their photos taken with the Cubs World Series trophy. Please bring a camera and or a cell phone.  Cubs personnel will take your picture with your device.  Please choose one device to be used per group. We encourage group photos but please be advised that you cannot take individual photos and a group photo—it must be one or the other. After your picture is taken, we would like people to exit the Library.
