Gail Borden Public Library officials are pleased to announce that Laura Bedolla will be joining the Gail Borden Public Library District Board of Trustees.
Currently a Management Fellow for the City of Elgin, Bedolla brings a wealth of experience to the Board. She was a partnership specialist for the United States Census Bureau from 2019 to 2021, where she was a liaison to communities and government entities. Prior to that, she was an Operations Manager & Policy Analyst for the United States Hispanic Leadership Institute. A unique part of Laura's background includes work as a Library Associate, Hispanic Services Program Assistant and a Technical Services Page for Gail Borden Public Library from 2009-2015.
Born and raised in Elgin, Laura holds a master’s degree in public policy and is a recent graduate of the Elgin Leadership Academy class of 2022.
Bedolla currently serves as secretary for the Gail Borden Public Library Foundation. She has been appointed to fill the term of Trustee Herb Gross who recently resigned. That term expires in April 2023.
"We are so pleased to welcome Laura Bedolla," said Jean Bednar, President of Gail Borden Public Library Board of Trustees. "Of course we were sorry to lose Herb Gross who has been a dedicated trustee, but we know that Laura will be a wonderful addition to the board."
Carole Medal, CEO of Gail Borden Public Library District, said, "We will miss Herb serving on our board, but we are happy that Laura has agreed to serve. We have benefited greatly from her dedication as a Foundation member, library volunteer, and a talented employee. "
"I am honored," said Bedolla, "I am excited to be a part of the future of this library as it grows and continues to serve our community.”
