VolunteersTeens entering grades 9-12 are invited to volunteer at the library in the Studio Volunteer Corps. We provide a variety of services for the library including pulling carts of books, making buttons for library events, preparing crafts for the Youth Department, and making the library a great place to be.

Please bring an ID, School IDs, Drivers License, or Library Card.

Instructions

  1. Sign Up
  2. Register for each volunteer session you wish to attend. Teens can volunteer for 2 hours per day, please do not sign up for multiple sessions on a single day.
  3. Arrive at Studio 270 with your high school ID or library card and a proper face covering. Volunteers more than 5 minutes late may have their spot filled from the waiting list.

Sign up in Studio 270, at the Information Desk, or Online. You only need to sign up once throughout your high school career. Please note that we are unable to sign off on any court mandated service at this time.

Locations

All scheduled opportunities are for the Main Library. If you would like to volunteer at the Rakow or South Elgin Branches please select the location on the online application and you will be contacted about possible opportunities.

Make unique greeting cards for those in our community who need it most.

Creative Crew 
Help us create wonderful and unusual works of art for Studio 270. This will be an ongoing group so regular attendance is encouraged!

Knitting for a Cause
Help us knit hats and scarves for those in need.

The United Way can direct you to volunteer opportunities through out Elgin.

The Gail Borden Public Library District does not accept Court Ordered Community Service volunteers at this time.
