Polar Predators and Jurassic Thrills: Dinosaur Programs Featuring World-Renowned Paleontologist Professor Gregory Erickson

ELGIN, IL – The Gail Borden Public Library's blockbuster exhibit, Dinosaur Explorer, has already captivated thousands with its interactive prehistoric world. Now, the library is ramping up the adventure with a slate of high-impact, must-attend programs designed to satisfy everyone from the most dedicated paleontologist to the littlest dino-lover.
The Dinosaur Explorer exhibit continues its run through January 4, offering families a unique, hands-on experience. Visitors will have a rare opportunity to go “Behind Dinosaur Explorer” with the exhibit’s creator, world-renowned paleontologist Professor Gregory Erickson at two upcoming programs!
Breathing Life Into a T-Rex is already booked to room capacity, but there’s still time to catch Ice Dinosaurs at 6 pm on Nov. 13 at the Main Library with paleontologist and creator of Dinosaur Explorer, Professor Gregory Erickson. Dino-lovers of all ages are invited to explore Professor Erickson’s groundbreaking discovery of a lost world of polar dinosaurs, learn about the species that once thrived in icy conditions, see real fossils up close, ask questions and even win fun giveaways. Discover how dinosaurs weren’t just tropical creatures — they also ruled the frozen prehistoric tundra. Please register to attend this program.

Dino Fiesta at the Library! ¡Fiesta de Dinos en la Biblioteca! – Nov. 15
Stop by the Main Library on Nov. 15 at 2 pm for a family-friendly dinosaur celebration. Enjoy dino-themed crafts, games and plenty of prehistoric fun. It’s the perfect event to bring in little dinosaur-lovers and make amazing memories together. This program will be held in English and Spanish. No registration is required to attend.
Jurassic Park Film Screening – Dec. 30
One of the most beloved blockbuster films, Jurassic Park (1993, PG-13), will be showing at the Main Library on Dec. 30 at 2 pm. Experience the thrill, wonder and roar of the original Jurassic Park at this special movie screening. After the film, continue your adventure by exploring the lifelike dinosaurs featured in the Dinosaur Explorer exhibit. Please register to attend this program.
