Ling Low Joins Gail Borden Public Library Board of Trustees
ELGIN, IL – [10/23/2025] – Gail Borden Public Library officials are pleased to announce that Ling Low has joined the Gail Borden Public Library District Board of Trustees.
Low, who currently serves as a Community Program Facilitator with the Girl Scouts of Northern Illinois, brings a wealth of experience from both the non-profit and corporate sectors, including roles in marketing analytics and project management for major corporations. Her extensive background in community outreach, communication, and strategic project coordination will be a significant asset to the Board as it guides the Library's mission.
Her community involvement includes supporting various local initiatives, such as coordinating programs for Asian Pacific Islander Heritage Month and organizing volunteer events for local groups such as Gigi’s Playhouse and Anderson Humane.
"I am deeply honored and enthusiastic about the opportunity to serve on the Gail Borden Public Library Board of Trustees," said Ling Low. "As a long-time resident, patron and library advocate, I look forward to contributing my skills and experience to an institution that plays such a vital role in the cultural and intellectual life of the Library community."
Low was appointed to fill the term of Amy Prochot who recently resigned. That term expires in April 2027.
“We are pleased to welcome Ling Low to the Library Board," said Jean Bednar, Library Board President. "We were disappointed to lose Amy - she was a valued trustee,” Bednar added. “And we received many outstanding applications for this position, but we ultimately chose Ling because we know she brings so much to the board and to the library community.”
Carole Medal, CEO of Gail Borden Public Library District, shared, "We are very pleased that Ling has been appointed to serve on the Library Board. Having already been involved with Library initiatives such as Asian Pacific Islander Heritage Month celebrations, we anticipate that the Library District will benefit even more now that she is a trustee.”
