The Elgin Corps Salvation Army will hold their 3rd annual Design A Kettle Challenge at the Library. Groups decorate The Salvation Army iconic Red Kettles and compete for the best design and chance to win the “Design A Kettle Challenge” Trophy. You can vote for your favorite one time per day.

Eddie Parker left Elgin in the 1880s to become a Salvation Army pastor, eventually becoming the CEO of The Salvation Army in the United States, but he was always “Eddie from Elgin.” Learn about his fascinating life that included capturing World War I through the lens of his camera and helping to establish the USO.
