Internet Access Statement
The Gail Borden Library District is pleased to provide information resources through the Internet in addition to other library resources. Internet access fits within the Library’s mission to “provide a wide range of materials and services to serve the district residents in the pursuit of educational, informational, recreational and professional needs.”
However, the Library cannot control and will not be held responsible for the information on the Internet outside of the Library’s web site. Internet resources should be used with caution. They may contain information which is:
- inaccurate
- out of date
- illegal
- considered controversial or inappropriate
Filtering software is installed on all public computers with the exception of the adult use computers in the Computer Center as well as in the Computer Training Center. However, use of this software is not a guarantee that all sites considered objectionable have been filtered. In addition, filtering software may block access to a site you wish to use. If this occurs, please ask a librarian to assist you in your research or for other alternatives.
PLEASE NOTE THAT parents have the ultimate responsibility to supervise and guide the use of the Internet by their children.
The Library’s computers are not to be used for the transmission of material which might be considered unlawful, obscene or otherwise inappropriate. Internet transmissions for each patron are held in a file, which may be reviewed during or after the patron’s session to ensure compliance with these rules.
The Library will enforce its Rules of Conduct Ordinance as it applies to inappropriate use of the Internet.
This statement was adopted by the Board of Trustees on December 14, 2004
